Know your rights
- People with disabilities and their parents have certain rights. Americans with traumatic brain injury and other disabilities have access to educational and other resources.
Consider all options
- Some students attend college full-time after high school. Others want to work full-time. Some work and go to school.
Make a plan
- No matter what option(s) a student chooses, setting realistic goals and evaluating progress toward those goals is essential. Planning and goal setting should begin as early as possible.
Find an advocate
- An advocate is a person who can help locate resources and who may help coordinate needed services for a student with TBI. As the student grows more independent and knowledgeable, he or she can become a self-advocate.
