Friendships can change after an injury. Most people don’t understand brain injury and that might make them uncomfortable. Relationships based on shared activities, such as football, might change if you are no longer able to participate in that activity.

You might be different with your friends than you were before. For example, you might yell at them, when you rarely lost your temper in the past.

Solving problems with your family and friends requires all the skills that you have learned so far.

  • Pay attention to verbal and nonverbal cues to figure out WHAT is happening and HOW you feel about it.
  • Stay in control of your feelings, using your anger management skills.
  • Use the A-B-C-D-E problem-solving process to identify options (Brainstorming), pick the best choice (Choose), and DO IT.
