Sometimes after a TBI, people start having seizures. While this may be scary for you, it is not out of the ordinary.
Seizures are overactivity or an “electrical storm” in the brain that can cause changes in behavior or consciousness (how alert you are).
Some types of seizures are very obvious (like shaking, passing out, or falling down) while others are less obvious (like staring into space for a few seconds and not remembering that you were staring off).
What is epilepsy?
Epilepsy itself is a disorder where a person has two or more seizures.
Sometimes having a head injury can cause epilepsy. If this happens, it is called post-traumatic epilepsy.
