Acceptance Means Looking Forward
Acceptance is the final stage of grieving. It will likely take a while to get to this stage. Acceptance means accepting where you, your teen, and your family are now. Acceptance is not the same as giving up or giving in.
Take a Chance & Forgive
Forgiving yourself and others is an important part of the process of accepting what has happened. This is an essential step to moving on.

How can I move on?
- Talk to others or keep a journal about your feelings. (Limit the time spent on this activity to 30-60 minutes per day.)
- Focus on your successes as a parent and what you can do now to help your child to recover. What new lessons will you and your family learn from this experience?
- Laugh. Humor is powerful medicine.
Acceptance is a step toward letting go of grief and guilt.
